Lucky Seven "Sevi" Samonte was born in 2000 in the cool, mountainous city of Baguio, where the vibrant mix of culture, sports, and education shaped much of his character. Raised in a family that valued both academic excellence and athleticism, Sevi’s childhood was marked by a deep love for basketball, often playing on the streets with friends and honing his skills at the local courts. His natural athleticism, combined with an unwavering work ethic, made him a standout from a young age.Sevi moved to Manila to pursue his dream of playing college basketball while also earning a degree in engineering at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Over the years, he became a key player on the UST Growling Tigers, eventually earning the role of team captain in his 5th year. Under his leadership, the team has risen to new heights, with Sevi serving not only as a dynamic point guard but as a steady leader on and off the court.Known for his calm under pressure, sharp strategic mind, and unshakeable determination, Sevi quickly became a fan favorite. Despite the demanding balance between his engineering studies and his basketball commitments, he thrives on the challenge, driven by his belief that both academics and sports teach the same valuable lesson: perseverance and resilience.Sevi’s story is one of ambition, discipline, and heart—traits that make him not only a rising star in collegiate basketball but also a role model to those who aim to juggle passion and responsibility.
